Raw Food

This way of eating has come more in the news of late. Actually the raw food way of eating started over 50 years ago and has slowly gained acceptance. The raw food diet has been used for decades to help heal people of many illnesses and diseases, including cancer.

The whole premise of the raw food diet is to eat whole food that has not been heated above 118 degrees. It does not mean that the food is cold. It is considered a vegan form of eating, in that no animal products are eaten, except for honey.

Cooking foods results in the destruction of 50% of the protein, approximately 60-70% of the absorbable and usable vitamins and minerals, up to 96% of the B12 and 100% of the enzymes and phytonutrients. By eating living foods you can achieve a healthful caloric effect without dieting.

There are a few people that feel a raw food diet is predominantly nuts and seeds, which in their thoughts are all fat. That is not true. With any diet, whether it be the Standard American Diet (SAD), Vegetarianism, Vegan or Macrobiotic, there will also be different flavours of the same thing. Ultimately, it is a matter of finding what works for you, as everyone has totally different needs.

There are many schools of thought and opinions on the raw food diet. It started with the Essences of biblical times and has been followed for healthful reasons. The first questions that are always asked for any diet that excludes animal products is, where do I get my protein and where do I get my calcium. No matter what anyone's opinion is, it has been proven, with scientific studies, to work.
